Got two old Walkmans running again this week. Both needed a new belt, one needed some extra care in cleaning it. A WM-F15 still needs cleaning and repair.. There’s something weirdly grounding about hearing tape hiss again. Like the machine is breathing. Like the music isn’t just *playing*; it’s being *pulled into the present* one inch at a time. I’ve got records too. But this? This is different. The warp, the wobble, the little moments where it fights to keep going feels honest. Sometimes I think fixing these things is the only time I’m fully in my body.
